Where The Wind Blows

Image
Though we all started out as Bruins in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and we always will be Bruins. My family has blown apart with the wind.  This happens with most small towns.  Just like it did my  Dad's family who lived in a small town and moved on to support themselves.                 As for my family we blew as all the rest of the town blew when Phillips Sixty-Six could no  longer support the town.  My older sister got married and ended up with four children.  My younger  sister got married and ended up with two children in the state of Michigan.  My parents moved to  Virginia so that my oldest sister could take care of them.  My mother has since then passed on, but I  already wrote on that.                  As for me I presently live not far from where I began.  Yet six hundred miles from the small  town of Bartlesville, the small town in Oklahoma, I went to high school in.  But life is not over for me  yet, and I know not where I will end up.  Yet as the Apostle Paul

My Greater Days

Image
As I look back at life, I would have to guess my greater days have already been.  None come to listen to me anymore, and those who use to build me up have stopped.  Though I use to have one who was to be my wife she is gone to be with the wind. What might have been is no more found to be.         As I look back at life what I once was I am no more.  For now, all that I do is done electronically. When someone builds me up electronically it is squashed.  Just a note and then no more, I am only a has been.  I am just someone to make others feel good then put away like yesterday's blanket.        As I look back at life, I see my accomplishments have not been that great.  I have labored through  different jobs that didn't amount to much.  I have been to many schools only to be laughed at.  Even my  blogs are made fun of.      To what point do I look forward?  When the future looks lonely and dim.  The future holds nothing  for me.  For do any of the children or young men c

Hebrews 3:13

Image
In Hebrews 3:13 it says, "exhort one another daily, while it is called 'today' lest any of you be  hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."   The Greek word for which exhort comes from according to Strong's is parakaleo meaning to call near, invite, beseech, call for, comfort, desire, intreat, pray.  This is one of the things that should happen when we go to church, and usually does.  If we follow the scriptures it should happen daily as well.  Central church of Christ in Kokomo was pretty good about  this, of course by going there you would have the chance to meet four times a week.           Most churches are not up to meeting this often.  They use the excuse that they do not have  enough time to exhort the brotherhood.  They will say the Bible says to do that, but it's somebody else's job.  If someone does not make it to church, we should either check up on them by e--mail, or  good old fashion telephone to see how they are doing.  It is my

The Disabled

Image
I have shoes on my feet that have the design of jigsaw puzzles all over them.  To me the thing I said after I had bought them, (and they were delivered to me) is that they were autistic.  Brett (a caseworker) at the first sight also said they had the Autism Spectrum on them.        I have known people with autism, and even though they are in a world of their own they are still able to do every day work.  The same goes with any other type of disability.  Just because a person has  a disability, they are still a person.   Most of the time these people can still carry on a meaningful  relationship as well as jobs.  Society's reaction to these people makes me shudder.       These attitudes are not just in the world but in the church as well.  At one time they would  institutionalize the disabled or put them in a freak show.  Today, however, they tell them they are  normal hardly give them enough to live off of, then they go off and laugh.  This is how society make  themselves fe

Chemically Induced Coma

Image
I was living in Kokomo, Indiana, when my father was in a chemically induced coma, and my  Grandmother Eccles had passed away.  So, Central church of Christ offered to pay my way to either go to my grandmother's funeral in Oklahoma, or to go visit my comatose father in Albuquerque, New  Mexico.  I automatically recalled what the scriptures said in Matthew 8:22 "...let the dead bury their  dead" which made the choice easier.  I chose to go to New Mexico and be with my parents.  After all if dad was in a chemically induced coma, how did I know he would not die.  Someone needed to stay  with mom anyway.              I took care of momma and made sure she ate while dad was in the hospital.  After all that was  my job now.  When she came home, I walked through the dessert to get the two of us some ice cream. I got lost and walked all the way to the high school (which is spooky looking in the dark).  Some guy  came out and yelled at me because I was walking all over his

The Lower Lights

Image
Sam Pepper always had at least one candle burning on his table.  He was funny that way, he  would light it when he got up and put it out when he went to bed.  To his thinking it made the  surroundings pretty.  He also thought that if a candle burnt out on its own someone you knew had died, and you would soon hear about it.             One day Sam was listening to a religious radio station.  They started playing someone singing, "Let Your Lower Lights Be Burning".  At which time for no reason two of his candles blew out for no reason.  This spooked Sam, and he was certain someone he knew would soon pass on.             He checked Face Book to see if any one he knew had placed a death notice there.  No one he  knew had placed a death notice on Face Book.  He then checked his e-mail, and found nothing there  either.  Last but not least he checked with a friend whose family member was dying, but nothing there  either.  He shrugged his shoulders as if to say maybe I

The Angel of Death

Image
An average looking man who did not stick out in the crowd was dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, with  plain tennis shoes on his feet was carrying a journal and pen around.  He was on a coffee break, and went to Joe's to get a cup of coffee and a piece of angel food cake.  On the front of the journal was written Book of The Dead.  The food and coffee were to recharge his energy.  This man was the Angel  of Death.         Every time a person was close to death their name, date of death, and time of death appeared in it. When the angel was to move to a new location his clothes would often change so he'd fit in to the  location.  If anyone would ask him about his occupation, he would simply say that he was in the Army  of God, and not say he specialized in death.  The Army of God started back at the fall of man, and was unionized during the flood.           It was his assignment this time to take the proprietor (75-year-old Joe Blow) away from this  world at 12:45:45. Dreams And Realization

Image
We all have dreams, but the realization is forever live to fulfill them.  It is important to look at the realization of our dreams.  Let's look at a few of my dreams for example.                              Dream number one: most people have this dream, and that is to grow up, get  married, have kids, and hold down a job.   At the age of 54 I've pretty well given up on the idea of getting married and having kids.  Realisticaly getting married and having children is a young person's  job.  Furthermore, I am not able to take care of myself let alone take care of someone else.                              Dream number two: would be to be an evangelist, even though I have more college than most people (220 credit hours).  Realistically, I also have a seizure disorder which makes me  unable to drive.  No Driver's License would stop me from doing the work of an evangelist.                               This brings us to Dream Number Three:  Bein

Gift of God

Image
God gives each of us at least one gift to use in our lifetime.  If we exercise our gift(s) it may be multiplied.  If for some reason, however, that gift is not exercised our Spirit may die. I suppose my gift is in exhorting the brothers/sisters in Christ, whether this be through email, the blog, or some other means.         Any other gift I may have had has been left to die.  When you are left on a lonely road you find more time to do things for Christ.  So, you have more time to build the brotherhood up.  You spend more time in reading and meditation with God.  When you are passed over to do something in church it may hurt more, because you feel like it came directly from God.          There are those who are left alone as it says in the book of Enoch, "God did not prepare for them a wife."  If God did not prepare a mate for someone, they are more likely expected to worship Him, and Praise Him.   That is their main gift.  They may know much, and there may be more

The Final Frontier

Image
Notice this whole story is a work of Science Fiction None of it is meant to be taken seriously.             John Fitzgerald was in prison, on death row, for killing an officer of the law.  Grizwaltz  Computers had come up with an idea of how to take care of the overcrowded prison population, and use the death row inmates to test their theory out.  Instead of putting them through courts a whole  bunch of times, give them a lobotomy replacing the part of the brain they took out with a computer with moral behavioral parts.  Of course, before this could be done the AMA, would have to okay it, and congress would have to fight over it.               John Fitzgerald would be one of the first trials.  If it was successful, he would have his  freedom in society.  If it was not successful, well let's just hope it was successful, because the brain is  the last frontier.  When you mess with the brain you're messing with regions of the unknown.              John signed a paper agreeing to

Arthritic Thunder

Image
Once upon a time in a land not so far away also known as the land of Other, lived a little old dog by  the name of Thunder.  Thunder would yell whenever anyone would come on his property.  Then when you came in his home he would act like you were his long-lost best friend.   Once he knew you then  you were cool, but before that watch out.  He just had one of those dogenalitys   that said, bite first then  find out if they are your friend.         As Thunder aged, he started to wobble on his hip. His doctor said he had a hip displacement  which was common in Bichon's.  His doctor also told him that hip displacements were more common in larger breeds like his young friend, Max.  His vet explained to him that a hip displacement is a type  of arthritis.          So, the vet gave Thunder a cane and he wobbled out of the vet's office barking at the other dogs  warning them that their day was coming.  The other dogs just barked back to have a nice day.  Thunder just shook his

From The Bar To Christ

Image
There once was a man named Dean who tended a bar to put himself through college.  Dean  kept the empty liquor bottles and washed them to fill them up with pennies.  He had a loose life when  he wasn't busy with schoolwork or his three-year-old son Danny.    He kept his loose life pretty much  away from his home.  Then he met this bar maid named Rohnda.            He felt head over heels in love for Rohnda.  He had Rohnda move into the other half of his  house with her kid sister Kim.  Rohnda and Kim paid rent every month and went to church.  Rohnda soon bought Dean a Men's Bible to study out of with.  Dean started living off of Ramen noodles, and  quit his job.               Dean left his wicked lifestyle and was soon baptized into Christ. He graduated from college  with a degree in nothing from Nowhere University    He started praying more, teaching the Gospel of  Christ more and preaching the Gospel of Christ more.  He got married to   Rohnda, and had three more
