The Final Frontier
Notice this whole story is a work of Science Fiction
None of it is meant to be taken seriously.
John Fitzgerald was in prison, on death row, for killing an officer of the law. Grizwaltz
Computers had come up with an idea of how to take care of the overcrowded prison population,
and use the death row inmates to test their theory out. Instead of putting them through courts a whole
bunch of times, give them a lobotomy replacing the part of the brain they took out with a computer
with moral behavioral parts. Of course, before this could be done the AMA, would have to okay it, and
congress would have to fight over it.
John Fitzgerald would be one of the first trials. If it was successful, he would have his
freedom in society. If it was not successful, well let's just hope it was successful, because the brain is
the last frontier. When you mess with the brain you're messing with regions of the unknown.
John signed a paper agreeing to use him as a test subject. Since they did not know if it would
work or not, they prepared his last meal as he requested. They even called for a priest to call for his
last rites. John laughed at their preparing for his death when he believed in medical science. The day
of his surgery when he would be reprogramed was on June 21st, the first day of Sumer.
They put John in a police car to take him to the hospital with all of his things, and hope in his
eyes. The officer smiled back and said, "Their going into the last frontier and reprograming you
today."
John just smiled back and said, "Yes, I have been debriefed."
They took John into the hospital, and he was all alone for a while. A nurse soon came into the
room telling him to get undressed and then slid into some hospital sox and a hospital gown for surgery.
After surgery you'll be put into the mental ward for observation. John agreed to that as he got dressed
for surgery. He had a white gown on and yellow X-Large socks as they took him into surgery.
As they wheeled him into surgery a man prayed over him as they put him to sleep. He prayed,
because, they were going into the great unknown, and it worked in theory, but John was the first test
subject. Once John was asleep the electronics came out and they worked to get rid of the old John.
They recorded what they were doing for the purpose of science. They cut out the frontal lobe part of
the brain (since that's the area where the emotions are kept [like anger]), and replaced it with computer
parts.
John woke up on the 9th ward of the hospital. He was greeted by a nurse who asked him how he
was doing today. John told her that he was fine but didn't know what time it was. The nurse said,
"It is 06:00 in the morning, and your biological parts still need to be fed. You have been asleep for
three days and three nights. The medical field was starting to worry about your success. So you will
have food soon but first take your meds with some Gatorade."
John Guzzled the Gatorade down as he took the medicine, they gave him. They then took him
to a banquet of food where he ate a lot of it. For he found that three days of fasting left you famished.
He did not have any memory of his past life. This was okay since everyone from his past life had
abandoned him.
His case worker set him up in a house not far from the hospital. This was so that he would not
be too far from the doctors and other workers he needed to see. The state bought him a companion
animal to keep him company. He went to work at the Grizwalt Computer Company. He went to
church three times a week except for when he had to go to work. He lived in peace and tranquility
with all people for he had gone past the final frontier into the brain and had computer parts implanted.
