Genesis 41-50
1 At the end of two years Pharaoh had a dream.
2-4 Fat cows were eaten by thin, ugly cows.
5-7 A dream of heads of grain.
8 None could interpret dreams.
9-13 The butler recalls Joseph and tells of him and his dream interpretations.
14 Joseph was called for quickly.
15 Joseph was called the interpreter of dreams.
16 Joseph said It is of God, not of me.
17-24 Tell of dreams which none other could explain.
26-27 Two dreams are one: seven good years, seven years of famine.
28-36 Joseph tells Pharaoh to set the wisest over the land and set up a storehouse.
37-41 Joseph's word was found good, and he was set as ruler over all Egypt except for the throne.
42-44 Things done in praise of Joseph.
45-46 Joseph's name was changed, and given a wife at the age of thirty.
47-49 Joseph gathered an immeasurable amount of food.
50-52 Two sons were born to Joseph in the land of plenty, and they were Manasseh and Ephraim.
53-57 Famine was severe in all the world. All went to Joseph and did as he said.
Genesis Forty-Two
1-3 Jacob sends ten of his sons to Egypt to buy grain.
4 Benjamin was withheld from the journey.
6-7 Joseph was the governor over the land, but his brothers did not recognize him. Joseph recognized them but behaved as if they were strangers.
8-9 Joseph accuses his brothers of being spies.
10-13 Response from Joseph's brothers.
14-17 Joseph gives his brothers a test.
18-20 If they were honest, they would carry grain home and bring the youngest back.
21 Truly guilty concerning Joseph.
22 Reuben said, "Joseph's blood be upon us."
23-24 Did not know Joseph understood them as he bound Simeon.
25-26 Joseph's command to take sacks and restore money.
27-28 Money found while feeding the donkey.
29-32 Tell the tale told in Egypt.
33-34 How to tell if they were honest men and not spies.
35 Money was found in all the sacks, and fear fell upon them.
36-38 Deal to bring Benjamin.
Genesis Fourty- Three
1-5 Famine was severe and sons of Israel could not go to Egypt unless Benjamin was with them.
6-10 Deal to bring Benjamin to Egypt.
11-14 Jacob's deal.
15-17 Feast prepared for Joseph's brothers.
18-22 Fear of money because they were brought to Joseph's house.
23-26 They were cleaned up and brought in Joseph's presence.
27-28 Spoke of Father.
29-30 Saw Benjamin and Joseph went to room to cry.
31 Egyptians and Hebrews ate seprately.
32-33 Children ate by age.
34 Benjamin was given five times as much portion as anyone else was given.
Genesis Forty-Four
1-2 What Joseph told servants to but in brother's sacks.
4-5 Why repay evil for good?
7-9 Whoever this tin is found let him die. "You shall not steal" Exodous 20:15
10 As you say he who it is found shall be my slave.
11-12 Sacks thrown on ground and cup found in Benjamin's.
13-14 Tore cloaths and went to Joseph's house.
15 What have you done?
16-17 Judah was sorrowful, Benjamin to be slaves, others sent home to father.
Could we put ourselves in the shoes of one of these charachters?
18 Judah's plea to speak to Joseph.
20 Judah reminds Joseph of what he had said.
21 Joseph asked to see the youngest.
22 Lad should not leave or it might kill the old man.
23 Only have more food if Joseph sees Benjamin.
24-26 Sent back had to plead to take Benjamin.
27-28 Wife bore two sons and one is dead. Genesis 37:31-35
29 Take his brother and danger befalls him, my gray hairs should be brought down to his grave.
30-31 If Benjamin not among Brothers it will kill the old man.
32 If lad not brought back Judah would take the blame.
33 Let Judah stay as slave, and Benjamin go back.
34 How can I go without Benjamin?
Genesis Forty-Five
1 Joseph makes everyone leave the room as he reveals himself to his brothers.
2 Cried, and all heard it.
3-5 Says I am Joseph your brother, you sold me for evil, but God made good use of it.
6-7 God sent me ahead of you to deliver you in times of famine.
8 You did not sent me, but God sent me to rule over Egypt.
9-11 Hurry get Father and family and send them to the land of Goshen.
12-13 Hurry and tell father all the glory that you have seen in Egypt.
14-15 Brothers weep, kiss, and talk.
16-20 Pharaoh's command
21-23 Provisions for journey.
24-28 Israel was told that Joseph was well and alive. After Israel gets over shock went to go see Joseph.
Genesis Forty-Six
1 Israel took all he had and traveled to Beersheba where he offered sacrifices.
2-4 God tells Israel not to fear going to Egypt, for he will make him a great nation there.
5-7 Journey to Egypt
8-27 List of those who went to Egypt.
29 Joseph meets Israel
30 Israel ready to die since he had seen Joseph.
31-34 Say you are shepherds so you may go to Goshen.
Genesis Forty-Seven
1 Joseph tells Pharoah that his father, livestock, and possesions are here.
2-4 Five brothers taken to Pharaoh, and said they were shepherds, and asked for land in Goshen.
5-6 Pharaoh asks that Josephs brothers take care of hish years old.
11-12 Joseph moved family to the land of Ramses, and fed them.
13 Sevear famine in land continues.
14-15 All Egyptian money in Pharoah's house.
16-17 Bread for livestock
18-20 land for food
21-22 Except for priests all people moved to cities.
23-25 Seeds given to people by percentage, certain percentage for people, certain percent for Pharaoh.
26 Law over Egypt 1/5 Pharaoh's the rest goes to the people. The priest were exempt.
27 Israel had possesions, and grew and multiplied.
28-31 When Israel was 147 years old he made Joseph promise that he would not burry him in Egypt, but burry him with his fathers in Cannan.
Genesis Forty-Eight
1 Joseph bring Manasseh & Ephraim to Israel.
2-6 Mannaseh & Ephraim will be as mine.
7 Rachel burried @ Ephrathake Bethlehem.
8-9 Israel introduced to Joseph's sons.
10-16 Israel begins blessing Joseph's sons.
17-21 Israel Completes blessing Joseph's sons.
22 Gave Joseph a portion more than brothers.
Genesis Forty-Nine
1 Jacob tells sons of last days.
2 Gather togeather sons, listen to your father.
3-4 Reuben will not excel due to the fact that he slept with his father.
5-7 Simeon and Israel are cruel and will be seperated among Israel.
8-12 Judah will be praised he will behave like a lion.
13 Zebulun by the rivers of the sea.
14-15 Issachar is like a donkey and will work like a slave.
16-18 Dan will be a judge of his people.
19 Gad will be triumphant at last.
20 Asher will be wealthy.
21 Naphtali is a deer let loose.
22-26 Joseph is like a strong fruit vine by the rivers of waters. Psalms 1:3
27 Benjamin is a hunter for his prey
28 Twelve tribes of Israel given their blessing.
29-33 Israel charged his sons that they burried him in Machpelah, and he died.
Genesis Fifty
1 Joseph wept over and kissed dead father.
2-3 Forty days for embalming Israel, and Egypt mourned for him a total of seventy days.
4-6 Joseph asked to burry his father in Cannan, with promise that he will return.
7-9 Those who went to bury Israel and those who stayed behind.
10-11 Seven more days of morning at threshing floor of Atad.
13-14 Burried Israel at Machpelah, as sons had promised, and then they returned home to Egypt.
15 Fear that Joseph will repay evil with evil.
16-19 Brothers repent before Joseph, and Joseph asks if he is in God's place.
20-21 You meant for evill God meant for good comforted them and spoke kindly.
24 Joseph lived to be 110
25-26 Died and put in an Egyptian coffin with orders that his bones were to be taken to the promised land, *Note the children of Israel's Promise Land was in Cannan. Our Promise Land is in a home eternal with our loving Savior.
This concludes my Bible notes on the book of Genesis. Next week we will pick up in Exodous as the Children of Israel's problem's travels on.
