Fire Eyes
As we open this story up, we find thirteen-year-old Travis Coleman.
standing in the middle of his bedroom with sweat dropping off his face. He had been asleep
and dreaming of people (a lot of people) on fire. He had had had this same dream many times,
but they were only getting worse. The dreams were starting to affect him physically.
His parents sent him to a psychiatrist once they find out about it , and the
psychiatrist orders him some Trazadone so he can sleep better. After two weeks instead of the
Trazadone making him sleep better it only makes matters worse. Now, wherever Travis went
he would break into a sweat, then his eyes would both glow, and he would see people on fire.
Some said this was a gift, while others called it a curse, Travis simply called it hell. For anything
that Travis touched would turn to it's liquid state.
If he touched glass it would return to sand. Liquids he would touch would turn to
the state of gas. His clothes would just return to ashes. People were frightened of Travis, because, as
he aged (and got further into puberty) his fire power intensified.
It got so that his family had to call in the military to finish his upbringing. While
the military educated Travis they also took the opportunity to study him. The military did this around
the clock the military did this around the clock with an elite team who wore special clothing. They
kept Travis in a rubber building just built for such an occasion with sand floors, hopping he could not
hurt that. Like most things Travis touched, when Travis touched the rubber door knob it melted. It did,
however, return to it's normal shape of a rubber doorknob when it cooled down.
The military rubber insulated gloves to wear. The gloves were especially
equipped with cooling devices in them for when he had a "fire spell". He wore them whenever he was
awake. While keeping him isolated from other life forms was not especially good for him it was
necessary.
Once they found that the insulated gloves worked on his hands, they tried an
insulated covering on the rest of him. Yet flames still came out of his eyes. Travis would look at some
one and see flames around them. Then the next thing you knew they would be on fire. This would
make Travis was so unhappy that he would cry tears of fire. The military finally decided to let him out
in the yard under supervision. The problem with this was that he was lonely and his eyes would start
fires. Then one day he combusted from crying so much, and there was nothing left to bury but a
puddle of water.
