The Door On Mars
The Door On Mars
The Curiosity Rover that NASA sent to Mars to take pictures of the red planet, sent back a
picture of a small door (12 by 16 inches) on it. The scientists felt that this was just a natural occurrence
caused by a quake. Sandy Hook, however felt strongly that this should be explored with human
explorers. She went as far as to quote Carl Sagan by saying, "'Somewhere, something incredible is
waiting to be known.' and that something might just be behind that door."
To this her boss gave a thoughtful look, and ordered for a ship to be built resembling the ark
of the Old Testament. They therefore built a ship forty by forty cubits to be used in outer space to go
to Mars and carry dogs, cats, and humans. It would take approximately seven years to make it,
running off of atomic energy. Captain Hook was told to bring youthful people to staff the ship with to
reproduce it. They said this due to the fact that by the time she got to planet she would be dead. Their
mission on the ship was to find new life and to make it.
Captain Hook filled her ship up with people sixteen and above. They were still taught the
fundamentals (such as reading, writing, and arithmetic). but it was tailored to their own needs. The
basic study for everyone (including the adults) would be their destination the red planet, the members
of the Ark called Mars. Things like the Bible were used as historical documents, but not with the
moral significance it once had. The Social Sciences had taken it's place. A lot of study on the Gale
Crater was done while on the ship since this is where the "dog door" was They studied other books as
well both for learning and recreational purposes.
With the teenagers having raging hormones sex was almost always a recreation. Since
condoms were not used on the ship babies were born as had been planned. They then put loin cloths
on these babies. It was the ship's main purpose to "find new life and make it". Having babies was
definitely making new life. Captain Hook figured if they didn't find new life behind the door they
would just get permission from NASA to colonize it.
Captain Hook was seventy-five when the Ark reached the red planet called Mars. She
stepped off of the ship, banged her head on a red rock, and died. Doctor Kinglover checked her out
and pronounced her dead of old age. The crew blasted Captain Hook's body off into outer space where
it became a meteor burning in the heavens as space debree,
Doctor Kinglover took over the expedition of people, dogs, and cats. They had landed in the
gale Crater area with an interpreter machine, to tell what might be said by any life there. The dogs and
cats were able to breath without helmets which told them the air was breathable, so they took their
helmets off. They knocked on the door only to have it answered by a small elfish looking man with
horns on his head.
The tiny elfish like looking creature spoke quickly in Aramaic. Our translator machines
were able to adjust to Aramaic, and what he was saying. He told us, "Once upon a time this red planet
flourished with giants like yourselves, and little people like me. The giants used this planet's resources
too much, and the polar ice caps melted leaving this a hot planet. The little people went under ground
building a door to keep out the heat. The giant people on the other hand built a giant ship and blasted
off to find another world.
Doctor Kinglover used the translator machine to explain that he had one thousand people
with him, and that they were willing to rebuild the planet if the elf would allow it. The little elf started
to say no, but then he realized having the giants as neighbors again might not be so bad. As the elves
lived underground, and the titans (the giants) lived on top of the red planet running around in their
underwear. They learned to speak Aramaic so that they could speak to their neighbors the elves.
